While other cartoons were playing it safe, this show about two unemployed 20-something park groundskeepers was airing on Cartoon Network with jokes about death, synth-pop montages, and a giant, sentient gumball machine who screamed at them for slacking off. And it was glorious .
Season 5 is the “dark night of the soul” season. Mordecai gets a new love interest (CJ, the cloud girl with anger issues), Rigby gets his GED, and we watch a funeral for a baby duck. A baby duck , people.
