The pace is relentless. Once the plane crashes, the movie barely lets up. The Spinosaurus is a genuinely terrifying antagonist, and the raptor designs (now with feather-like quills and complex vocalizations) are a highlight. Practical animatronics are used effectively alongside CGI that, while dated, has a certain 2000s charm.

Jurassic Park III ditches the philosophical weight of the first two films for lean, mean dinosaur horror. When Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill, returning with weary charm) is tricked into flying over Isla Sorna, he and a rescue party must survive against a highly intelligent Spinosaurus – a new apex predator that famously destroys a T. rex in one scene. A fast-food version of Jurassic Park – empty calories, but enjoyable if you just want to see dinosaurs eat people. 6/10 The pace is relentless
