In ancient Greece, the world was plagued by the gods' cruel whims. Kratos, a Spartan warrior, had long suffered at the hands of Ares, the God of War. His family, taken from him by Ares' deceit, had left Kratos with a burning hatred for the gods.

As he grasped the blades, Kratos was suddenly beset by visions of his past, reliving the memories of his family's brutal slaughter. The pain and rage reignited within him, fueling his determination to defy the gods and bring them to justice.

Through his trials, Kratos discovered that his destiny was intertwined with that of the gods. He began to realize that his rage and hatred, though initially a curse, could be harnessed for a greater purpose: to bring balance to the world and hold the gods accountable for their actions.

Kratos soon discovered that Ares was not the only god responsible for his suffering. Zeus, the King of the Gods, had secretly manipulated events to ensure Kratos' downfall. This revelation sparked a deep-seated desire for revenge against the Olympian gods.
